About me

I’m a researcher in the fields of Autonomous Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems for spacecraft, Vision-Based Navigation, Hazard Detection and Avoidance (HDA) systems, Spacecraft Autonomy, AI applications for space systems, and Trajectory Optimization. I’m interested in vision-based navigation and other methods to assist and extend spacecraft capabilities by means of Artificial Intelligence, seeking an end-to-end autonomous GNC chain.

Since 2018 I am an Assistant Professor at the Aerospace Science and Technology Department (DAER) of Politecnico di Milano, where in 2025 I joined the Deep-space Astrodynamics Research & Technology (DART) Laboratory. The involvement in several research projects at DAER allowed me to work in both internal research and in internationally founded studies.

In these years, I dealt with different and innovative technologies: I set up thermal vacuum tests for space electronic components; I worked with large datasets from Estrack (ESA Tracking Network), aiming for early detection of anomalies; I set up experimental facilities and microgravity experiments, designing and implementing onboard data handling systems, acquisition chains, and robotic control systems.
