About me

I’m a researcher in the fields of Autonomous Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) systems for spacecraft, Vision-Based Navigation, Hazard Detection and Avoidance (HDA) systems, Spacecraft Autonomy, AI applications for space systems, and Trajectory Optimization. I’m interested in vision-based navigation and other methods to assist and extend spacecraft capabilities by means of Artificial Intelligence, seeking an end-to-end autonomous GNC chain.

Since 2018 I am an Assistant Professor at the Aerospace Science and Technology Department (DAER) of Politecnico di Milano. The involvement in several research projects at DAER allowed me to work in both internal research and in internationally founded studies. In these years, I dealt with different and innovative technologies: I set up thermal vacuum tests for space electronic components; I worked with large datasets from Estrack (ESA Tracking Network), aiming for early detection of anomalies; I set up experimental facilities and microgravity experiments, designing and implementing onboard data handling systems, acquisition chains, and robotic control systems.
